Members' Projects

Many of our members make a wide variety of lace and other craft items, some small, and others more substantial.

This page showcases some of the larger projects members have made.

Christening Gown

Lindsay writes:

I started it about 4 years ago, I got the bodice and skirt done and about 2.5 years ago my great niece and my great grandson were christened in it, with a length of machine lace round the bottom. Thanks to lockdown I've managed to crack on and finish the bottom trim, which I have attached to the gown.

Lace in progress by Bobtails' members
Members make a wide variety of laces. Shown here are Torchon and Binche.

We have members with all levels of experience of lacemaking. Some of our members are novice or "rusty" lacemakers, some have many years of experience behind them. We are a self-help group, so we all help each other wherever we can. We may be able to provide a new lace maker with a pillow and bobbins for a small donation to charity.

We often display completed lace and craft pieces at our lace days.
